Finally, I get to my favorite part of drawing portraits. Its evident that I haven't drawn any faces in a while, but I'm looking forward to see the improvement in my drawings. I learned I really struggle drawing this as fast as I should, which is why half this drawing isn't done.

Update...
For anyone interested I would be more than happy to get rid of the majority of my past work (this includes whats on facebook or any other of my work you may have seen). So, just let me know if there is one you would like. This also applies to any of future work for the most part too. Also, if anyone has any request, just email me and I would be more than happy to make individualized artwork for people. I could really use the practice.
Currently for art I've finally finished my series of hands, with exception of any resubmits. Once, I'm entirely finished I will post a few of those along with a portrait drawing I did today. I'm looking forward to moving on from drawing hands. I will also be posting a new skeleton sketch soon. For anyone who wants to see some amazing painting I just recently discovered that Peter Fuller paints.
In none art related news, I'm well on my way to becoming a gymnastics judge. After a tiring almost 7 hour drive to St. Cloud, I attended a rules meeting and will be taking the judging test shortly. I just need to find a school to judge for.

Circles
One of the most basic shapes, yet one of the hardest ones draw, is the circle. For my Art 350 we had to make circles using different techniques. Making circles is a lot easier than expect. The main things to remember is the light source, the reflected light, and a shadow.
I also made a second one which was part of a the college symposium learning about pastels. It was interesting working with oils pastels; I think it's been around four yrs since I've done anything in pastels. Using color of any kind is extremely difficult for me, as many of you know I'm color blind. I solved the problem by using complimentary orange and blue. I also added a little of yellow for fun.

Hand
Today in class as you can tell we started drawing hands. As I've said so far with the majority of my other drawings, it is not an easy task. This only our first day drawing hands, so believe it or not I may be posting a few more.

Study of Feet
It's been a while since I've uploaded any of my work so I thought I show a few drawings. In class we've been working on a study of feet. A lot more difficult as usual than I anticipated, but an okay outcome. It's been kind of fun to learn the anatomy terms though. I'm also working on a few feet and some other ones for my sketchbook assignment. I'll post them as soon as there done.
Next week were starting to work on drawing hands. I think I'll like that a little bit more. I believe there is a little more detail in hands, but that's what makes it fun. As always I'm sure I'll post a few of those up too.

Skeleton Outline Finally!
Meet Barbra, my figure drawing friend. It felt like Halloween as I was sitting there for a little over five hrs studying the correct proportions of a skeleton. I managed to finish around 1:30am. With the outline finished I'm now about 1/3 the way done with my all semester drawing assignment. So, there will be plenty more skeleton drawings to come. I wish the photo would've been a little bit better. However I used vine charcoal and a lot of the lines were really soft.

Caricature Of Me
Today I thought I'd add a piece of someone else's work, mainly as I didn't have time to add one of my own. As I passed by one of the buildings at school I noticed they were giving away free caricature sketches; with in five min I was walking away with sketch in hand. I was very surprised how good the sketch was for such a limited amount of time.
On a side note today in figure drawing class we were drawing feet; not an easy task. I hope to have that drawing along with my skeleton drawing posted soon.

Sketch Book ( Gesture W/ Sightlines)
Another gesture assignment for my sketchbook. There was a series of four like this one. This is one of my first drawings in charcol and it's evident that I'm still getting use to it. I found it really funny that in my series of drawings they usually graudually get better. By the end I could see which order I had drawn them in because they progressively got better.

Sketch Book (Gesture Drawing)
This is the Start of my Sketch Book. For drawing class we were required to do a motion series of gesture drawings; these are two from the series. As evident in the drawings it is a new concept for me do gesture drawings. I was also lucky to have an amazing model. Anyone who really likes gestue drawing or animation should really research Walt Stanchfield (an amazing artist who I was required to research for class).
Just A Start
As we all know things in this world happen too fast. So I'm starting this blog to keep everyone informed. My plan is to keep an online protfolio of my work and to let everyone know the key events going on in my life. For those of you who might not know I'm currently on my forth yr of college; currently attending MSUM and my major is art education. At this time the only art class I'm taking is drawing, so for a while their will probably only be a lot of drawings. I hope you all enjoy this blog.
