Consuming Typography
After working on five typography designs for about two weeks off and on, I have finally completed them. Will be happy to not hear the words typography for a while. The assignment was to create five different designs using type our teacher gave us. We were required to pick our own font. We had to use the same font for all five designs. The main problem I ran into was not being able to use any image or shapes for the background on all, but the last one. For the first design, which I haven't posted, we had to use the same weight and font as well. For the second design we could change the weight of the type. The third one we could change size and weight of the font. For the forth one we could also change the tracking. Sounds very simple, but very limiting, or at least that's my opinion. I do believe the assignment was great for teaching me how to work with type better and not allowing type to limit my design options.

Sign and the Environment
Being true to what I said this is the sign I created and the environment. Like with all my designs my main goal was to make it clean, simple, and straight to the point.

Animals
It's amazing how time flies, it's been over a month since I've posted anything, but it's a new semester and time for another post. This semester I'm taking a graphics class and up to this point I'm really enjoying it. The above picture is from the first main project in the class. The assignment was to make three wayfinding symbols for marine animals. The symbols we designed also had to incorporate an object that would relate to where the marine park would be located. The location I picked was Florida and thought there was nothing better to represent Florida than oranges. Along with the symbols we also had to create a sign and environment for the sign, I might post pictures of that later.
On a side note, the gymnastics season is almost finished. I've got one more meet to judge, the conference meet, and then finally freedom. I can't wait to see how far the girls have progressed throughout the season though. I must say I really had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started judging.
